Guatemala Hope for the Animals is a nonprofit animal rescue organization. Facebook. Contact Caroline Callison Tiffin: I am the Director of a US nonprofit that has a dog rescue and sanctuary in Quetzaltenango. We also frequently rescue dogs and cats in Lake Atitlán area. We have been using the money transfer service called Remitly and it works very well to get funds to Guatemala. If you are interested in giving ongoing support to a rescue organization, it would be wonderful if you would consider ours. The name of our 501(c)(3) is Guatemala Hope and our animal rescue program is Guatemala Hope for the Animals. We have a 1-acre property with a large house and generally have about 30 dogs in residence at a time.
I’m a former veterinary technician So I oversee all of the medical and we have an Australian who is a long time Guatemala resident who is the in country manager with a Guatemalan who lives on premises to manage and care for the dogs. We have two bedrooms and bathrooms set up for volunteers who want to come and stay on premises. Prior to the US banning imported dogs from Guatemala a year ago, we sent some of our dogs and cats to the US for adoption and hope to do so again. We are also looking for more monthly sponsors. The dogs sleep indoors unless they are in quarantine and get a weekly run in the hills.
